Chapter 1

Me and my elder sister have always been video game fanatics.
As a 14 year old she was apparently into the same games Im into now, stuff like overlord, fable, blue dragon. Heck! she even played the Pokémon games! But now that she's 16 she plays games like silent hill, bioshock and dead space. I always thought she was so cool for having an interest in so many genres, especially for being .. . well, a Girl!
Whenever i had my friends round we would borrow some of her horror games and play them all night until we fell asleep.

Okay, Im going off topic now. . .. I guess I should start from when she let me play one of her favorites.
Pokémon red.

Now I know what your thinking. .. . 'Ugh, another stupid Pokémon Creepy pasta'
But just hear me out on this one.

A week ago she was talking to mum about selling some of her old games, you know, the ones she never plays anymore.
Mum suggested selling them at a charity shop and she liked the idea of that.
The rest of that day she was looking through the many boxes under her bed trying to decide which games she wanted to keep.
Me on the other hand, I was in the back yard playing with the dog.
After about an hour or so she opened her window and said she had something for me.
Hearing this i threw the chew toy for the dog to fetch before running inside and going upstairs. She met me at the top of the stair case with her hands behind her back.
"Hay bro, ever had a gameboy game before?" she smiled
"Yeah, I used to play Abes Odyssey on it!" I grinned, excited to know what she had in store for me.
"Ever wanted to play This?" she finally exposed the Pokémon red cartridge to me
I stared at it in awe for a second before finally responding
"I-I thought you said the dog broke it!?" I was glad to hear it was fine
"Dont be stupid! i only said that to stop you from deleting my save file! look, do you want it or not?" she held it out to me
"Sure!" I eagerly took the game before running into my bedroom searching for my gameboy.

sis walked into the door way of my room before saying
"Its quite old by the way, and it might glitch sometimes" she chuckled.
So that's why she was giving it to me, she wouldn't play it anymore because it really was broken.
And then it occurred to me...
"Hay, on your game didnt you have some pokémon who wouldn't evolve?" I asked, now remembering some of the issues she had with it.
"In a way, yeah.. . It wasnt because they wouldn't evolve, they just wouldn't accept the XP the gained" she corrected me.
"It must have been a bug" she finished with.

Before I could continue the conversation mum called up the stairs telling her to hurry up and get the games.
The charity store was quite far from where we lived so mum had to drive her there.
After another minute of searching I found my gameboy in the back of my dresser. I decided to go down stairs and play it.

I followed sis downstairs, said goodbye to her and mum and let the dog back inside only to sit with him on the couch.
I examined the cartridge before inserting it into the gameboy. It was in a surprisingly good condition for its age, we've had this game for about 5 years now.
Either way I turned on the console, sadly the same couldn't be said about my gameboy, I sighed as i saw all the old stains and scratches on it from when I was younger.

When the game started and I heard the opening theme play I felt a wave of excitement. Sis never let me play the games that could only have one save file. Sadly pokémon was one of those games, but now I finally have the chance to try it out. I played pokémon diamond and mystery dungeons. But i never got to play the older ones like red, blue or yellow.

I watched through the opening animation and stared at the title screen a bit before finally pressing start.
